Security Consultant (Junior) - Modern Work & Security

Fusion5 is looking for a Junior Security Consultant to join our high-performing Cloud, Infrastructure & Security team. In this role, you’ll work alongside industry-leading professionals to support the delivery of security, compliance, and identity solutions within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. From helping organisations secure their data using Microsoft Purview, to supporting Microsoft 365 Copilot readiness assessments, you’ll gain exposure to real-world consulting work with major clients across Australia and New Zealand.
 
You’ll assist in deploying secure collaboration environments using Microsoft Intune and Entra ID, contribute to the design and implementation of Zero Trust frameworks, and learn how to identify risks and drive remediation activities using tools like Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Microsoft Secure Score. You’ll be hands-on from day one, learning how to translate complex technical requirements into business outcomes and building a career in one of the fastest-growing areas of the IT industry.
 
What You’ll Do 

• Assist with the delivery of Microsoft 365 Security & Compliance solutions including Microsoft Purview, Intune, Entra ID, and Defender for Endpoint. 
• Support Microsoft 365 Copilot readiness planning, focusing on secure configuration, compliance, and governance baselines. 
• Participate in customer workshops, security assessments, and documentation of key deliverables. 
• Help implement Conditional Access, device compliance, and basic data protection policies. 
• Contribute to the preparation of architecture artefacts, technical documentation, and security reporting. 
• Learn how to align solutions to frameworks such as Zero Trust, Essential Eight, and Microsoft Secure Score. 
• Collaborate with senior consultants and delivery teams to ensure high-quality outcomes. 
• Build foundational knowledge across identity, endpoint security, and Microsoft 365 best practices. 

What You’ll Bring 

• 1–2 years of experience in an IT, infrastructure, support, or security-related role. 
• A strong interest in cybersecurity, compliance, and Microsoft 365 technologies. 
• Exposure to Microsoft tools such as Intune, Entra ID (Azure AD), Defender, or Purview is desirable. 
• Willingness to learn, take initiative, and grow your skills in a consulting environment. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
• Attention to detail and the ability to follow structured processes.

Desirable (but not essential) 

• Experience working in a support, service desk, infrastructure, or junior consulting role. 
• Familiarity with concepts such as Conditional Access, MFA, Zero Trust, or compliance tools. 
• Exposure to PowerShell scripting or basic automation. 
• Interest in AI and data protection in the context of Microsoft 365 Copilot. 

Certifications & Qualifications 

• Tertiary qualification in IT, Cybersecurity, or related field (completed or in progress). 
• Microsoft certifications are desirable, including: 
• Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals 
• Microsoft Certified: Microsoft 365 Fundamentals
